Wisdom teeth are the last molars in each corner of the mouth. They generally erupt between the ages of 17 and 25. Our ancestors had larger jaws with more teeth to grind tough foods. With evolution, jaws have shrunk, and wisdom teeth now have less room to erupt.

These teeth can grow horizontally or fail to break through the gums, leading to several problems, including decay in adjacent teeth, dental infections, gingivitis, or periodontal disease. To avoid future complications, our dentists sometimes recommend extracting them.
