Sinus Lift

SINUS LIFT BONE GRAFT - LATERAL APPROACH

A sinus lift, also known as a sinus bone graft, is a procedure performed to increase the amount of bone in the upper jaw, just below the maxillary sinuses. It is usually necessary when the bone is too thin to accommodate a dental implant.

The procedure begins with an incision in the gum to expose the jawbone. Next, a small opening is created in the bone to access the sinus. The sinus floor is then gently lifted, and the resulting space is filled with bone graft material. This can be synthetic bone, donor bone, or autogenous bone, which is bone taken from another part of the patient’s body.

Once the graft is in place, the gum is closed with sutures, and the area is left to heal. After several months, when the graft material has integrated with the natural bone, there is enough bone mass to safely place a dental implant.

SINUS LIFT BONE GRAFT with VERSAH DRILL system - ALVEOLAR ROUTE

The Versa Drill system is an innovative technology designed to facilitate sinus lift and bone grafting procedures, since the sinus lift procedure is performed through the crestal approach. That is, through the same orifice through which the implant will be inserted, before the implant installation stage and in the same surgical procedure, the sinus lift is performed, in a faster and more conservative manner. The post-operative period is, however, much faster and simpler.

Here are the steps of the procedure :

1. Incision and Bone Access: The dentist begins by making an incision in the gum to expose the upper jawbone. A small opening is then made in the bone, allowing access to the sinus floor.

2. Versa Drill Preparation: Unlike traditional rotary instruments, the Versa Drill system uses advanced technology that combines hydraulic irrigation and oscillating drilling motions. This allows for gentle bone removal while preserving the surrounding bone structure.

3. Sinus Lift: Once the bone is removed, the sinus floor is gently lifted using irrigation pressure. This creates a space into which the bone graft material will be placed.

4. Bone Graft Placement: The bone graft material, which can be synthetic bone, is inserted into the space beneath the sinus to encourage growth.
